Online Meetings

Just one aspect of "social media" but one that businesses can wrap their heads around readily enough.  They save money on travel and on expensive videoconferences.  I'm looking around for a good list of what cloud services exist, which offer free trials, and which have any outstanding features.  If I can't find one that someone else has already compiled, I'll do the work myself.

In the meantime, be aware that these things don't just happen.  And just because you've run some spiffy in-person meetings doesn't mean it all translates to the web.  There's some thought and prep work to be done for online meetings to work out to best results.  Socialbrite has given it some thought and come up with 10 steps for planning an online meeting.  I'd say it's a good start.  I especially like breaking the facilitator away from the speaker/subject expert.
